Our Standards and Practices

At the Wyalusing Area Education Foundation, transparency, accountability, and community trust guide everything we do. The following outlines our governance practices, financial policies, and program standards. These ensure that donors, volunteers, educators, and community partners understand how we operate—and how every contribution makes a difference. Our goal is simple: to make every contribution count while upholding the highest standards of integrity.

Governance

Board of Directors
Our volunteer board provides strategic direction, financial oversight, and ensures that all programs align with the Foundation’s mission. Directors serve without compensation and are committed to ethical leadership and community impact.

Committees

Standing and ad hoc committees oversee specific areas—such as grants, scholarships, fundraising, and governance—to promote efficiency, transparency, and alignment with our mission.

Conflict of Interest
All board members, staff, and volunteers are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest and must recuse themselves from related discussions or decisions.

Financial Stewardship

Use of Funds
All contributions are allocated responsibly to scholarships, grants, educational programs, or operating expenses. Allocations follow donor intent or board approval to ensure funds directly support educational enrichment.

Acknowledgment
Every donor receives written acknowledgment and the appropriate tax documentation for their gift.

Planned Gifts
We welcome conversations with donors interested in establishing legacy or endowment gifts. Planned giving helps sustain long-term educational opportunities for students and teachers in the Wyalusing School District.

Grant Policies

Eligibility
Foundation grant opportunities are open to educators, administrators, and approved school programs within the Wyalusing School District.

Application Process
Applications should be submitted to [email protected]. Each proposal is reviewed by the Board or designated committee and must comply with program-specific guidelines.

Reporting Requirements
Grant recipients must submit a final report upon completion of the funded project, detailing the outcomes and use of funds.

Prohibited Use
Funds must be used only for the approved project. If a project cannot be completed, unused funds must be returned to the Foundation.

Scholarship Policies

Eligibility & Application
Eligibility criteria and application procedures are outlined within each individual scholarship fund. Selection is based on donor intent, academic merit, financial need, or other specific requirements.

Awarding
Scholarships are selected through committee review and awarded based on fund-specific criteria.

Disbursement
Funds are distributed directly to the student or educational institution, as directed by the donor’s intent.

Changes in Eligibility
If a recipient’s circumstances change (for example, a change in major or enrollment status) and they no longer meet the scholarship’s criteria, the Foundation will review the situation on a case-by-case basis and may adjust or rescind the award.
